The Giant Group came into being with the establishment of its flagship company, Shankar Trading Company L.L.C in the food wholesale market of Al Ras in 1985.Since then the group has grown organically into a diversified business house under the banner of The Giant Group with interests in Wholesale, Distribution, Retail and Manufacturing of consumer goods.

The Giant Group’s core business is Shankar Trading Company LLC (STC), which specializes in the import and distribution of a range of ethnic FMCG products. STC represents some of the best known snack food brands from the Philippines, India and Malaysia. We are the largest importers of branded Filipino food-stuffs in the Gulf region. STC serves the entire spectrum of modern trade and grocery retailers, with modern logistic and distribution capabilities.

The Group manages an ultra-modern Business centre that offers flexible office solutions. In addition, we manage a joint venture in high end footwear manufacturing, under the name of Gulf Footwear and Paragon Footwear as well as a joint venture that manages a Men’s apparel retail business under the name of Top Brands. 

The group employs in excess of 450 people and has operations spanning across U.A.E

Mr. Shankar H. Lakhiani, Managing Partner, with a career spanning two continents and nearly five decades, has a vast experience in all aspects of trading, Wholesale, Distribution and Retail. He laid the foundations of the group in 1985 under the flagship company Shankar Trading Co. LLC.

Mr. Vashdev N. Kewlani, Partner / Director, enjoyed twenty years of administration and manufacturing experience in Asia & Africa, prior to joining the group in 1986.

Mr. Haresh Kewlani, Partner / Director, U.K educated with experience of over 25 years in the Fashion and FMCG business including Retail, Distribution, Finance and I.T.

Mr. Raj Lakhiani, Partner / Director, U.K educated with experience of over 20 years in all aspects of Garment’s, Footwear, Novelty, Supermarket Retail and Distribution business.

Mr. Raju Gidwani MBA, Executive Director FMCG business, has more than 25 years of experience with the group and Heads the FMCG interests for the group.

Mr. Dilip Kumar (Sony) Jethani, Commercial and Admin Director, has over 30 years of experience in Accounts, HR and manages the groups Commercial and Administration interests.
